A Story of Sleep Paralysis

Pretty uneventful week, so here’s a dream story for you all.

This a story about one of the most vivid instance of sleep paralysis I have ever experienced and the last.

My room is pitch black, yet I see the outline of everything in my room. The funny part is that I’m facing the wall and I can feel that my eyes are closed. I try to move, but I can’t and I’m struck with the realization that I’m experiencing sleep paralysis. This is also the first time that I am aware of the fact that I’m having sleep paralysis while experiencing sleep paralysis. As I lay in bed, facing the wall but seeing my room, a tall man enters and stands in the doorway. He’s as tall as the doorframe. He’s also wearing a windbreaker suit, with two light-colored stripes across the chest and white shoes. Through the darkness, I start to make out the features of his face and hairstyle. His fingers twitch and shoulders rise as he breathes. He watches me and I know that he knows I’m awake. The longer he stands there, the more forboding the entire thing becomes. It becomes overwhelming, the feelings of terror and impending doom, I feel my own heart start to race. Somewhere, in all the fear, I find acceptance, that whatever is about to happen to me is something that I cannot stop, that I cannot fight. That moment is when he starts to approach me and I hear the distinct sound of his windbreaker outfit swishing with each step. I feel him standing over me and hear as he bends down, and breaths near my ear. I also know that I can’t do anything now. Then I wake up. Facing the wall as I thought and heart still racing. I haven’t had sleep paralysis since.

Later that day, I tell my friends about the dream, and one of them tells me that she had a similar experience with sleep paralysis that was also about a strange man earlier that week. That same night she had hers, her boyfriend also dreamed about a man. Then later that week, another friend had sleep paralysis and saw a man. Just something else to think about.
